How Do I Convince My Mum to Let Me Have a Dog?

Dogs are expensive. At 13 I can bet that you do not have the $1000 to take care of a dog. Maybe you can cover the initial cost but: - Spay/Neutering can run from $50-$200 - An Exam at the vets can cost $45-$150 - Vaccinations are $20-$150 - Worming and fecal exams $20-$40 - Food is about $200-$500 yearly - Supplies can run up toward $1000, food and water dishes, leash, collar, crate, chew toys, treats, stain remover, dog bed, car harness, building a fence - If your dog is a breed that needs to be seen by a groomer than can go up past $50 a year - Training can cost $150 for a full class - Licensing fees, microchipping, a kennel or someone to "dog sit" another $100-$500 So basically aside from the actual "purchase" of the puppy, the first year alone can cost between $1100-$3000 Even if you were legal to work a part time job, that would hardly bring in enough income to pay for the dog. A dog should only be brought into a home when everyone wants the dog to be there. You have to realize that your mother will have to be the sole provider for this dog until you are financially and mentally able to care for it yourself. What about when you are at school? Who's looking after the dog then? What about if the dog messes on the floor for the first few months? Still your responsibility? Your mother owns the house, her house, her rules. When I was younger, my bird scratched me too, I used patience and training and my bird became a great pet. What if your puppy starts biting your hand? Will you give up?

1. Orange dots/flakes on dog bed?

It sounds like flea dust. You needs to treat your dog for the fleas with a topical treatment such as Frontline. You also need to bomb your house with a bomb that kills not only the adult fleas, but the larvea and eggs. Everything is available at any pet supply store. Flea dirt (the black stuff) is flea poop. Flea dust is the blood that's left over after the fleas leave. Take some of the flakes and put it into some water. If it turns red it's flea dust.

2. what are the first things you buy for a dog?

Food Bowls , collar , leash , crate , food , toys , dog bed and also you can get pee pads these are optional though . Then you can get your dog . After you have chose the name then you can get and ID tag for him/her

3. Dog Bed Still Smells???

wash the bed with detergent and a cup of vinager. mom always said vinager removes all oders

4. What style of dog bed is best for an adult German Shepherd?

I believe larger dogs like the rectangle beds. Little dogs tend to curl up and like rounder ones. Any rectangle bed would do, my border collie had one that was very soft and rectangular and she loved it! Hope this helps :).

5. I bought a dog bed and I ripped the tag off, how can i wash it?

I wash all my doggie beds on "delicate" and they come out fine. However, I have an energy efficient front loader that does not have the middle agitator that top loaders have, that might rip it. If you have a front loader energey efficient washer, the bed should do fine. If not, take it to the laundromat.

6. Any suggestions for a warm, chew-proof dog bed?

My dogs love Kuranda, too....it's like an indestructible doggie hammock (they are all over 50lbs). I just use old bedspreads instead of the padding that comes with them, though. I do not think they are particularly warm, but they keep the dog off the floor/ground and stay dry. I also have a dog who ALWAYS wants to be outside, but when it's really hot or cold, he does NOT get to be! He would have frozen toes and a heat stroke by now if I let him ;)

7. what to do about tiny black bugs on the dog and on the bed and floor just all of a sudden?

You need to call and exterminator and find out what type bug it is hopefully not bed bugs

After House Training My Puppy, Can I Exchange the Crate for a Dog Bed?
once the get use to the crate it is their safe and comfort zone. u might want to check out yard sales or the humane society for good used ones that ur pup can grow into. i have bought several this way and they were very cheap and in great shape. when u get one place a nice soft bottom and an blanket or towel on top so ur pup will know this is his own special spot then when he is older he will go to and sleep on it whether it is in a pen or just on the floor. i have make pads with foam and covered them with material that slips over it so it can be taken off and washed and then put back on when they get dirty.my border collie stills goes into her pen for quiet times and my little poochi does to plus they will both ly on the home made bed when they want. check around for a pen that ur dog can grow into or make up a nice cozy dog bed that will safe u lots of money. good luck1. Is a heating pad a good idea to use for a Boston Terrier inside?Unless your house is cold it is not really necessary. It will use about the same energy as a human heating pad. Like us dogs can also be warmed with blankets. If you keep your house a reasonable temp I would just give him a blanket and dog bed and call it good2. Is there anything wrong with using a small dog bed as a co-sleeper in an adult bed?Uh, no. A dog bed is not as sturdy as bed rails, or safe when lined with loose sheets. Move the room around and get the side co-sleeper or a bassienet you can put by the bed if you do not feel comfortable sleeping with your baby. Besides, if it's jut you you will need to buy bed rails anyways to stop your child from rolling off. Another thing, would the dogs understand they would not be allowed to sleep in the dog bed? I know you said you dogs are your babies, but you've got a real baby to think about. If you really want to cosleep the best thing todo would be to not allow your dogs to sleep on the bed anymore. Your dogs my be gentle, but that does not make them baby cautious sleepers3. I bought a dog bed and I ripped the tag off, how can i wash it?It says the cover comes off for washing. Since it is cotton, I would go with cold water for washing. I would not expect it to shrink too much4. I need an indestructable dog bed! I have two female pittbul/American bulldogs who chew and destroy dog beds!?i have this problem too. My APBT is 13 months and she just started chewing on her blanket and chewed a big hole in my blanket. she also used to chew wood and the tile floor in my kitchen. Use Bitter Yuk spray or put tabasco sauce and water in a spray bottle and use it. Mine rips thru a kong the black ones in like 3 days. Mine also gets exercise, socialazation and is trained. She chews my stuff out of spite sometimes i think.5. help me with dog supplies?A leash. collar. food, bowls, flea shampoo, nail trimmer, dog bed or crate, puppie shots (three sets) and they should be on heartworm prevention medicine (one pill every month) ooo and they should be neutered and registered in the city you live in... oooo that should run you about 300$ for the first year...big dogs cost more6. HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT TYPE OF DOG BED FOR YOUR PETYou probably consider your own bed somewhat of a necessity rather than a luxury item, and the same can be said for your dog's bed. Indeed, there are plenty of places for your dog to sleep around the house without complaint. However, your dog would be overwhelmed with joy if you provided them with their very own special bed. It gives your dog a sense of security, and dog beds are comfy as well. Most dogs will choose a bed over sleeping on the ground. Also, it protects your own home by keeping fur, dirt, and pet dander off of your own bed or furniture. This is especially important for those who suffer from allergies. Whether your dog needs an orthopedic dog bed or desires the plushness of a learn how to choose the right dog bed for your pet in this quick guide. WHAT SIZE DOG BED SHOULD I GET? You will want to measure your dog accurately, and this will determine the surface area that your furry friend needs. While your pet is sleeping, start at the tip of their nose and measure all the way to the rump; then, measure from the crown of the head to the bottom of the pads on the feet. Also, obtain these measurements while your pup is standing. If your dog sleeps in a ball, measure the dog from side to side. If they are a back sleeper, measure from the crown of his head to the tip of the tail. You may have to consider other factors. What size is your house? Maybe you are thinking about buying a dog bed for the car, where a smaller bed will suffice for shorter periods. As a rule of thumb, use your dog's dimensions as the most reliable parameters for choosing a dog bed. When in doubt, buy the larger size. Does your dog walk around in a tight circle before finally plopping down for a rest? If so, you will want to choose a round dog bed shape for your dog. Alternately, choose a rectangular shape bed if your dog sleeps on one side with their legs sticking out or sleeps on their back. If your dog curls up and sprawls out, then choose a rectangular-style pillow bed. This pertains to the bed's function and form. Again, let your dog's habits guide your buying decision. Does your dog need the security of walls, or does your dog let it all hang out? Maybe a compromise is in order; try out an open design with a bolster that offers support and doubles as a chin prop, just like your couch. While your dog might not give a lick as to the appearance of the bed, you probably do. We hope this guide on how to choose the right dog bed for your pet has helped you decide on the coziest spot for your furry friend.
