Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for Queen Memory Foam Mattress

1. Why am I getting a backache from a new mattress? Is it Normal?

you also didnt sleep on the show room model. with some people a firm mattress is better than a soft one (though the soft is amazing). Your spine probably needs the firm mattress. What I would do if you dont want to take it back is find a few sheets of plywood to stack under your side of the bed to make your side a bit more firm. It shouldnt affect the rise in the bed, but make it a bit more firm

2. What is the best bed to buy?

Eighteen months ago I purchased an 8" Memory Foam Mattress and steel stand at Walmart. At the time I was setting up a new apartment on a limited budget. The mattress and stand were very inexpensive so I went with it figuring I could upgrade down the line. Eighteen months later it still sleeps great, just as it did when I first got it. Frankly, it's been a far better mattress than most I've owned and for which I paid much more

3. What's the best, not too expensive, mattress there is?

Symbol Mattress uses the state-of-the-art technology to manufacture their products. They operate their own innerspring manufacturing unit that creates and electro statically tempers a huge variety of steel coil units. As compared to other major manufacturers, Symbol produces their coil innersprings.

Symbol also designs their own high-density polyurethane foam that is used for upholstering mattresses, box springs and hardwood foundations. Where their competitors buy foam after giving the cutting orders to their suppliers, Symbol cuts their own foam in-house.

5. May be the worst question of the week........but I'm going to ask anyway...?

Mattresses question: Is a bed foundation the same as a box spring and can either be used with regular mattresses? typically, a box spring is a combination of wood and steel springs that act like a shock absorber. A foundation is more of a solid structure , for use with a latex or memory foam mattress.

I got this from web. I'm a furniture maker for 48 years and this term was new to me so it shows you CAN learn something new every day.

6. What is the best way to cut memory foam?

This Site Might Help You.

What is the best way to cut memory foam?

I have a queen size bed, and i accidentally bought a king size memory foam topper. It is 4 inches thick. Once I got it out of the box and realized it was the wrong size, we couldn't get it back in to send it back. So we need to trim it down. What would be the best way to cut it?

7. Is it possible to use a queen size foundation for a king size memory foam mattress?

You would probably void the warrenty on the product.

Note from the table that the width of Queen is 16 inches smaller.

Mattress and Bed Size Dimensions Name Dimensions Twin Mattress 39" wide x 75" long Twin XL Mattress 39" wide x 80" long Full Mattress 54" wide x 75" long Full XL Mattress 54" wide x 80" long Queen Mattress 60" wide x 80" long Cal-King Mattress 72" wide x 84" long King Mattress 76" wide x 80" long

Below is where I pulled the chart from.

The toppers you find at Wal-Mart and discount stores are only as good as the mattress underneath. Please do not waste your money on those. I bought one for my queen size bed, as my husband needs a very firm mattress, but the mattress hurts my hips and back. The topper I have is less than 2 inches thick, and although it offers little relief, I wouldn't make the purchase if given a second chance. If you can afford it, get the tempurpedic mattress

9. Latex mattress or mattress topper?

You should check out memory foam. Memory foam is supportive and conforms to the shape of your individual body to provide unparalleled support.

Memory Foam has helped millions of people with conditions just like yours. It's thermally reactive which means it responds to your body heat to help relieve stress from pressure points.

Check out Lasting Impressions Foam! They've got amazing deals on Mattresses and Toppers and you'll save a lot of money by buying with them because they are a wholesale dealer.

10. Which mattress should I buy?

I have arthritis and a bad back and I LOVE my temper pedic! Best investment I ever made. They even make pillows, but get the good ones! Mine was two grand and worth every penny of it. I have had mine about 6 years now. The only time my back doesn't hurt is when I'm in that bed. Get a good frame to put it on and you will never know when your mate gets in and out . I will never have a regular mattress again

11. Where to find memory foam mattress zipper cover?

I wish I had an answer for you. This is a definite problem in the industry. Many of these manufacturers build the memory foam beds with zipper covers that can be replaced. Some even go so far to use it as a selling tool making it more attractive to the consumer, then they turn around and don't offer them to retailers such as my self. I replaced half my selection with permanent covers that are durable and don't have to be replaced. Great Question by the way

12. What would be a good first time bed for me and my husband?

My husband and i bought our bed off amazon. It's like a tempurpedic, but our queen only cost us $500. It's super comfy, too, tho it does take a couple of days getting used to if you've never slept on one before. I can't sleep on anything else now. If you want the link to our bed we bought, message me and I can email it to you. Otherwise just look up memory foam mattresses on Amazon

13. Do you like your memory foam mattress?

I got a 120 double memory foam matress off ebay for my son, he loves it. His old matrress was well soft and you could feel every spring.

Now thinking about a king size for myself, just need him to clean his room and go hide for a couple of days so I can try his first.

They tend to feel warmer than a standard matress, so if you often feel too hot in bed may not be for you.

14. i want to buy a memory foam mattress?

I have a feather mattress topper which is forever shedding its feathers through the cotton cover. This makes it really prickly and uncomfortable. The answer to this is to put something substantial between the topper and the fitted sheet e.

g. a blanket or mattress protector. We bought a new bed with a built-in topper , which gives a much better night's sleep. "Eggshell" foam might be a better option rather than memory foam . It is lovely to sleep on

15. Does anyone have a memory foam mattress topper?

I got one a while back for a queen size bed. I had it for a couple years before buying a Tempurpedic king size bed.

The topper did provide quite a bit of memory foam effect. It isn't quite like having the whole memory foam mattress. But, I thought the $100 or so I paid for it to be well worth the investment. The king-sized bed cost about $2200, but was worth every penny. I will never have any other kind of mattress.

16. What type of mattress would be best for a person with back problems and another who wants a soft bed?

Hi there,

I have also had some bad back problems in the past and decided to invest in a 2 inch thick memory foam mattress topper. I absolutely LOVE it. It's firm and supportive, yet comfortable at the same time. I got mine at Wal - Mart for $70, but that was for a Queen mattress. But you might want to check that out, I know that I have definitely not regreted purchasing it!

Hope this helps!

Good Luck!

What are some cheap, decent beds for teens/young adults?

I'm a college student, but I live with my dad at the moment. As of now, my room is the once guest room; my dad has a queen sized bed in it which I sleep in. It's nice and everything but it takes up WAY too much space in my room! I need room to study and whatnot and I just can't do that...

18. How do you buy a mattress?

I would recommend learning a little bit about the used car biz.. I mean the mattress business. Check out past issues of Consumer Reports. It is enlightening to say the least.

A great mattress forum to do some research in is Mattress Buyers Asked If They Would Buy It Again??? As of July 1 2007 all mattresses nationwide, including crib, must be flameproof and contain toxic chemicals.

19. Question on a Full-Size bed?

20. What do you think about Foam Memory Mattresses?

I have a memory foam pillow and I love it. I can't afford the mattress but if it is as comfortable as the pillow than I'm sure it is worth it. I would try to find a place that has one on display and lay on it, like a mattress store or even a department store might have one. They are more pricey though. The prices might go down a little for Christmas shopping season

21. Foam (springless) vs. Traditional Spring Coil mattresses - which is best?

I bought a queen size Serta memory foam bed on sale it costs over $1600 USD with a mattress cover and 2 foam pillows.. unfortunately it is much softer than the bed I laid on at the store and unless I am EXTREMELY sleepy I don't sleep as well as on my old spring mattress...also wake up with sore back from lack of support.

.actually slept on other bed more than my new bed...But when tired the new bed is very comfortable

22. Thinking about buying a new queen size mattress, what kind do you prefer?

The best thing you will NEVER regret buying, is MEMORY FOAM! I have it and it makes my bed SOOOOO much comfortable to sleep in. My back NEVER hurts, and I sleep so much better on memory foam. I will never get rid of it, it's that good! It's so squishy, unlike the regular beds, are hard to sleep on. I got my bed from American or Colder's. And I got my memory foam from ShopKo

23. How much does adjustable temperpedic beds usually cost?

i got this queen size memory foam mattress which isn't temperpedic. it was about $400 or so at i've never tried temperpedic but this one just does the job. i have a shoulder problem and had to sleep on my side or i would wake up with a terrible head ache. now i've been sleeping on this mattress i can sleep in any position and no headache! i've been sleeping much much better too

24. How do I make my mattress more comfortable?

I had the same problem and with our mattress after about 5 years and we bought a memory foam mattress to put on top and then a very thick mattress cover over both. It's just as comfortable now as it was when we did this 3 years ago. I saved a fortune on a new mattress by buying the memory foam. The one we bought was from Costco. Hope this helps. I know how miserable sleeping on an uncomfortable mattress can be

Is It Possible That Some Baskeball Courts Are Smaller Than Others?
Is it possible that some baskeball courts are smaller than others?Yes, definitely!!! I've been playing my whole life. Usually outdoor courts are all smashed together so they are very small because they try to fit as many courts as possible. Indoor ones like at gyms are usually bigger and more accurate because there is only one or sometimes two in a large area.— — — — — —The Iraqi Government wants to prosecute Backwater employees in their courts...?Pulling Blackwater's license may be all the Iraqis can do. Should any Iraqis ever seek redress for the deaths of the civilians in a criminal court, they will be out of luck. Because of an order promulgated by the Coalition Provisional Authority, the now-defunct American occupation government, there appears to be almost no chance that the contractors involved would be, or could be, successfully prosecuted in any court in Iraq. CPA Order 17 says private contractors working for the U.S. or coalition governments in Iraq are not subject to Iraqi law. Should any attempt be made to prosecute Blackwater in the United States, meanwhile, it's not clear what law, if any, applies. "Blackwater and all these other contractors are beyond the reach of the justice process in Iraq. They can not be held to account," says Scott Horton, who chairs the International Law Committee at the New York City Bar Association. "There is nothing [the Iraqi government] can do that gives them the right to punish someone for misbehaving or doing anything else." L. Paul Bremer, then the head of the Coalition Provisional Authority, the initial occupation government of Iraq, issued CPA Order 17 in June 2004, the day before the CPA ceased to exist. "Contractors," it says, "shall not be subject to Iraqi laws or regulations in matters relating to the terms and conditions of their Contracts." The Iraqi government has contested the continued application of this order, but because of restraints that inhibit the Iraqi government from changing or revoking CPA orders, Order 17 technically still has legal force in Iraq. Furthermore, as Peter W. Singer, an expert on private security contractors who is a senior fellow at the center-left Brookings Institute, points out, in order for the Iraqi government to prosecute those contractors, the U.S. government would have to accede to it. And that, Singer says, poses a whole new set of thorny questions. "The question for the U.S. is whether it will hand over its citizens or contractors to an Iraqi court, particularly an Iraqi court that's going to try and make a political point out of this," Singer says. If the United States is not willing to do so because of concerns that the trial will be politically motivated, he adds, there's a new question at hand. "If we really say that openly, does not that defeat everything we heard in the Kabuki play last week with [General David] Petraeus and [U.S. Ambassador Ryan] Crocker, that everything was going great? What happens if we say, 'No, we do not think you can deal with this fairly in your justice system?'" That leaves international and U.S. law. But international law is probably out. Even before the Bush administration, the United States had established a precedent of rejecting the jurisdiction of international courts. The United States is not, for example, a member of the International Criminal Court in the Hague. (In 2005, the government of Iraq announced its decision to join the court; it reversed that decision two weeks later.) U.S. law, meanwhile, is hopelessly murky. More so than in any of America's previous conflicts, contractors are an integral part of the U.S. effort in Iraq, providing logistical support and performing essential functions that were once the province of the official military. There are currently at least 180,000 in Iraq, more than the total number of U.S. troops. But the introduction of private contractors into Iraq was not accompanied by a definitive legal construct specifying potential consequences for alleged criminal acts. Various members of Congress are now attempting to clarify the laws that might apply to contractors. In the meantime, experts who spoke with Salon say there's little clarity on what law applies to contractors like the ones involved in Sunday's incident, and the Bush administration has shown little desire to take action against contractor malfeasance.
Even Gravity Is a Space Geometry Deformation. If It still Creates Motion, then Why Is It Not a Force
A force applied, causes a charge to radiate. Gravity applied does not cause a charge to radiate the same way.Any finite force applied to a massless photon, should have an infinite effect, yet a finite effect is seen, different than even the fastest, lightest mass particles. The last 100 years of experimental results, show that gravitation is only "sort of " like a force, in the weak field limit. But you lose the ability to describe the spindown of binary pulsars, the advancement of the perihelion of Mercury, gravitational time dilation, gravitational lensing, frame dragging, and gravitational waves. So a better question is, why you did not remember that Science deals with models / approximations, and that Newtonian gravitation is an approximation. As to what a force is in General Relativity (besides a mistake):Gravitation is not force?1. deformation and obstruction of a pair (X, D)From another point of view, the isomorphism classes of first order deformations of the pair (X,D) are isomorphic to the 1st hypercohomology group of the 2 step complex from the tangent sheaf of X to the normal sheaf of D in X.The 1st order deformations of just D are given by the 1st hypercohomology group of the 2 step complex from the restriction of the tangent sheaf of X to D, to the same normal sheaf of D in X.By the long exact sequence induced by the natural map of these complexes, the forgetful map from T^1(X,D) to T^1(D) is an isomorphism whenever the first 2 hypercohomology groups vanish for the 2 step complex from the ideal sheaf of D in X times the tangent sheaf of X, to zero. This happens for instance if X is a principally polarized abelian variety of dimension 3 or more, and D is the theta divisor, by Kodaira (or abstractly Mumford) vanishing.ref: Compositio Math 76(1990) pp. 367-3982. Law of conservation of energy and kinetic energy: deformation of a spring [closed]Actually, in the first situation(elastic impact), the block A will stand still after the impact and the block B will continue at 5m/s. You have to make the summary of momentum(quantit de mouvement) and kinetic energy to solve those problems. For the spring deflection, the maximum deflection will occur at speed 0, 0 kinetic energy, as all the energy will be store in the spring. You need to calculate the kinetic energy of the system then calculate how much deflection you need to achieve that amount of energy. The energy stored in a spring is define E=.5*k*xHope it helps3. Can we harvest energy from constant gripping? No, gripping something with your hands will make you feel tired because that is how muscles work: blood is pumping, cells are working...But imagin the gripped object on a table, and on it a pile of heavy books. The effect on the object is the same (more or less) than when you grip it with your hand, but the books never get tired. You could harvers energy from pressure, but you have to give something in return, so that the laws of conservation are kept. For example, you can get energy from deformation of a crystal lattice. See the piezoelectric effect for details.4. Why does this hollowtech crankset have play? The marks on the splines look about normal. It's hard to tell absolutely from the pics. You are looking for any sign of deformation or rounding, which occurs if the pinch bolts are loose while riding. Always make sure the pinch bolts are nice and tight, 14Nm or about as much as you would ever put through a long-handled 5mm L-wrench.You need to be able to torque-check your BB cups to go further. If one is loose that can cause all the issues you are experiencing. Replacing the BB entirely at this mileage is within reason too, although if it still works and feels great then by all means keep with it. Note they can have issues with looseness that's not accompanied by poor bearing feel. For example, the black plastic "top hat" of an HT2 BB can get cracked or come apart and preload will be erratic like you are experiencing even if the bearing feel is good.5. Easy nonlinear model for large deformation of a beamYou have not mentioned what load you intend to apply for so much of bending / twisting deformation. Fiberglass (S-glass) has around 2 percent elongation and is used in Elastica/ pole vaulting/ Bow Archery/ automobile propeller shaft and similar large deformation applications, is a material choice that can be considered. Since twisting is large,The analysis requires consideration of in-plane/ bending forces occurring together. Interaction formulae involving EI/GJ are also used for structural dimensioning. With ANSYS you should use large deformation analysis
What Will Take Ink Pen Markings Off Leather Shoes?
It depends on the leather, but this is what I do on our leather sofa: I take a q-tip and lightly apply a bit of perfume to the ink stain to dissolve the ink, then I quickly use a leather cleaner and remove the perfume from the leather so it does not damage it. You have to use a small amount so it doesnt break down the finish of the leather. I then apply a leather conditioner to soften it. Professionals may not recommend this but it works for me.1. Is it possible for you to shine your shoes to the point that they look like choroframs?Corfam shoes really suck. This is from a Marine who served before Corfam became popular. They do not breathe at all so you do not want to march in them. If Corfam gets scratched it is almost impossible to get out. I do not know why the Corps issues them, maybe they get a kickback from the manufacturer. If you spend some time on leather shoes you can bring them to a mirror finish. They can look better than Corfam. That may be a lost art today. There is another type shoe called Corcoran which is a bit more forgiving than Corfam. Corfam is just a money pit. Unfortunately, all services allow Corfam.2. How do you remove odor from leather shoes? The herb Sage. Buy some and sprinkle in shoes. Leave a while and toss out. You can buy sage oil but it is very very strong, so a mere dot of that would do the job.3. Leather shoes, bags, and belts... Does it have to match?good question!! aha. well your shoes and your belt should definitely always match, and matching shoes and bags look cute but it's not always totally necessary. just make sure that you are not wearing like black shoes with a brown bag or something like that. I do not think it really matters that much if your belt and bag match. . again, just make sure they do not clash. and that's my opinion.. hope it helps!4. why is it illegal to wear patent leather shoes in public, in ohio?2 possibilities: 1) It is not illegal and you should not look to a "page about strange laws" for legal advice. 2) It is illegal and it is because at some point legislature passed a law saying so.5. Do you remember patent leather shoes ; and using Vaseline to clean them? That trick is still being used in the military and on Police Departments for dress uniforms and shoes. I preferred a good deep spit shine but it takes a while to build that up and a slight scuff means a lengthy repair.6. How do I get cat urine out of leather shoes?I have a couple of suggestions. First, get some Nature's Miracle from the pet store. This is an enzyme that will break down the bacteria that comes from urine and causes the smell. Soak a rag with the Nature's Miracle and insert it into the shoe. Do not make it dripping wet, just damp. Leave it inside the shoes for an hour or so. This should remove enough of the surface bacteria so that when she puts her foot into the shoes the heat of her feet do not reactivate the bacteria, thus making the smell reoccur. Next, buy some activated charcoal and Borax. Put the shoes in a cardboard box that has a lid (a shoe box would work). Sprinkle Borax in the bottom of the box, maybe 1/2 inch thick. Put the activated charcoal in a plastic container inside the box with the shoes. Put a rubber band around the box and leave it sit for 3-5 days, maybe even a week, undisturbed. Activated charcoal absorbs smells and because leather breathes it should pull out the odor from the leather. Borax works well also to remove the smell of urine, so you are doing double duty smell control. I do not think that it would even hurt the shoes to fill them with some borax. Good luck, this worked on a very expensive Coach purse that my neighbor's cat sprayed and I filled the purse up with Borax without damaging the fine leather.
Where Do Frogs Live in the Winter?
where do frogs live in the winter?I have 3 frogs. One is an African Bullfrog and 2 PacMan Frogs. All 3 burrow in the winter, beneath the soil, where they stay safe. In the wild, a frog will climb above the water level if it's going into hybernation,(called estivation when it's hybernation of a frog), and they will find a burrow, or place to hide. Sometimes, they burry themselves in the soft mud above a pond, and sometimes they stay in the water. There are different, varying levels of amphibians. Some never leave the water, but most do. They stay moist through the place they choose to burrow. Some go as deep as a foot underground and grow a hard skin to protect themselves during estivation. I really hope this helps.:— — — — — —Please HELP I am scared of tree frogs and frogs but especially tree frogs?well dont go climbing any trees anymore— — — — — —List of TCU Horned Frogs in the NFL DraftThis is a list of TCU Horned Frogs football players in the NFL Draft— — — — — —How many african dwarf frogs!?on a 29 gal its best to have only one. 2 can live there, but they will not be very confortable— — — — — —Sex Frogs (joke my boss sent me)?LOL Thank you so much for the smile!— — — — — —Can i put crickets in with frogs? If you put in too many (more than your frogs will eat in a matter of a couple hours) they can deffinetly start eating your frog. I suggest you only use young crickets, and only put a few in at a time, depending on how many frogs you have, if there are still crickets in the tank after a few hours, get them out for the safety of your frogs. You can keep crickets in almost anything, as long as its ventilated and they have access to water (can buy gel speciffically for crickets) and a food source (again can buy cricket food), and give them something to hide in ( cardboard egg carton pieces work great). If you look around your local pet shops i am sure you can find containers with crickets (look like margerine containers) and they will live quite contently in that, till you feed them to your frogs anyways. Hope i helped. :)— — — — — —What species of poison dart frogs can be housed in a group?Dendrobates terribilis, Dendrobates vittatus, and Dendrobates auratus are all great species that can be kept in groups. Terribilis are especially great because they almost stay out in the open— — — — — —Are frogs considered lucky in Asian cultures?yes money :) meaning wealth— — — — — —Need information about African Dwarf Frogs?ADF's do best if kept by themselves. They do not compete well with fish for food. They are slow movers and any fish can steal food from them rather easily. They need 2.5 gallons per frog. If your getting a 5 gallon, then your stocked at 2 frogs. The ideal temp range is 74-78 degrees, so use a heater. Give them hiding places and also some floating plants. They need to breathe air so they sometimes hang at the top and stick their noses out of the water. For feeding use live or frozen brine shrimp and blood worms. Do not use freeze dried foods because it makes them bloat. One cool thing is the males will sing. A male will have a small bump on his sides by his front arms, it looks like a pimple. If you really want a fish, the only option would be 1 betta and 1 frog. To feed the frog, get a Turkey baster and use it to get the food in front of the frog so the betta can not steal it all. - But ADF's do better kept by themselves.— — — — — —How to stop frogs laying in my fish ponds?I do not think there is anyway to get rid of them. History of the South Asia Collection at the University of Pennsylvania Libraries
History of the South Asia Collection at the University of Pennsylvania LibrariesProf. Morton W. Easton, Professor of Comparative Philology (1883-1912), taught Sanskrit courses at the University of Pennsylvania. He had studied Sanskrit at Yale under W.D. Whitney (1827-1894). Upon completing his dissertation on the evolution of language, Easton was awarded the first American doctorate in Sanskrit in 1872. The University of Pennsylvania was one of the first American academic institutions to offer courses in Sanskrit; already during the 1880s, the university offered a major and a minor in Sanskrit. Easton retired in 1912 and was replaced the following year by Franklin Edgerton. After Edgerton left in 1926, W. Norman Brown was appointed in his place. Brown was responsible for the creation of the Department of South Asia Studies and expanded well beyond his own Indological interests. From 1916 to 1919, Brown had held the position of the Harrison Research Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. He organized the American Oriental Society in 1926. By the summer of 1947 Brown's summer program, "India: A Program of Regional Studies" was being offered at Penn. In 1948, he established the Department of South Asia Regional Studies, the first area studies department in North America. Offerings continued to be expanded until a full program was available in the 1949-1950 academic year. He brought together a number of eminent scholars such as Holden Furber, Stella Kramrisch, and Ernest Bender, ensuring that the Department of South Asia Studies at Penn became, and continues as, one of the most important places in the world for serious research on South Asia in general and Sanskrit in particular. Scholars such as George Cardona, Ludo Rocher, Rosane Rocher, and Richard D. Lambert worked at Penn throughout their careers, and ensured a rich collection was developed for the libraries. W. Norman Brown was also responsible for helping to establish the well known PL 480 program which in its various permutations over the decades supplied us (and many other institutions) with literally hundreds of thousands of volumes from South Asia. During the course of the PL 480 program from 1954 to 1998, the library acquired material actively through the Library of Congress field offices (New Delhi and Islamabad), and also through various vendors in South Asia, Europe and North America. Since 2013, the South Asia Librarian also manages acquisitions from the Library of Congress Field Office in Jakarta. The Library of Congress still continues as a major vendor to supplement the activities of collecting all material including monographs, serials, film, and digital formats. Because of the history of the University of Pennsylvania Museum in the field of archaeology, the Penn Libraries also have one of the largest collection of material for archaeology in South Asia. The American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) was founded by W. Norman Brown, and it operated out of the Van Pelt Library till it moved to its present location in Chicago. Since 1958, the University of Pennsylvania has had a Title VI National Resource Center for South Asia (South Asia Center). In 1992, the Center for Advanced Study of India (CASI) was launched. The two centers and the Department of South Asia Studies are supplemented by faculty with interests in South Asia, in various departments and schools across campus such as Anthropology, Architecture, Comparative Literature, Economics, Education, English, History, History of Art, Political Science, Religious Studies, and Sociology.— — — — — —Shared librariesA shared library or shared object is a file that is intended to be shared by executable files and further shared object files. Modules used by a program are loaded from individual shared objects into memory at load time or runtime, rather than being copied by a linker when it creates a single monolithic executable file for the program. Shared libraries can be statically linked during compile-time, meaning that references to the library modules are resolved and the modules are allocated memory when the executable file is created. But often linking of shared libraries is postponed until they are loaded.[dubious - discuss] Most modern operating systems[NB can have shared library files of the same format as the executable files. This offers two main advantages: first, it requires making only one loader for both of them, rather than two (having the single loader is considered well worth its added complexity). Secondly, it allows the executables also to be used as shared libraries, if they have a symbol table. Typical combined executable and shared library formats are ELF and Mach-O (both in Unix) and PE (Windows). In some older environments such as 16-bit Windows or MPE for the HP 3000 only stack-based data (local) was allowed in shared-library code, or other significant restrictions were placed on shared-library code. Memory sharingLibrary code may be shared in memory by multiple processes, as well as on disk. If virtual memory is used, processes would execute the same physical page of RAM that is mapped into the different address spaces of the processes. This has advantages. For instance, on the OpenStep system, applications were often only a few hundred kilobytes in size and loaded quickly; the majority of their code was located in libraries that had already been loaded for other purposes by the operating system. Programs can accomplish RAM sharing by using position-independent code, as in Unix, which leads to a complex but flexible architecture, or by using common virtual addresses, as in Windows and OS/2. These systems make sure, by various tricks like pre-mapping the address space and reserving slots for each shared library, that code has a great probability of being shared. A third alternative is single-level store, as used by the IBM System/38 and its successors. This allows position-dependent code, but places no significant restrictions on where code can be placed or how it can be shared. In some cases different versions of shared libraries can cause problems, especially when libraries of different versions have the same file name, and different applications installed on a system each require a specific version. Such a scenario is known as DLL hell, named after the Windows and OS/2 DLL file. Most modern operating systems after 2001 have clean-up methods to eliminate such situations or use application-specific "private" libraries. Dynamic linkingDynamic linking or late binding is linking performed while a program is being loaded (load time) or executed (runtime), rather than when the executable file is created. A dynamically linked library (dynamic-link library, or DLL, under Windows and OS/2; dynamic shared object, or DSO, under Unix-like systems) is a library intended for dynamic linking. Only a minimal amount of work is done by the linker when the executable file is created; it only records what library routines the program needs and the index names or numbers of the routines in the library. The majority of the work of linking is done at the time the application is loaded (load time) or during execution (runtime). Usually, the necessary linking program, called a "dynamic linker" or "linking loader", is actually part of the underlying operating system. (However, it is possible, and not exceedingly difficult, to write a program that uses dynamic linking and includes its own dynamic linker, even for an operating system that itself provides no support for dynamic linking.) Programmers originally developed dynamic linking in the Multics operating system, starting in 1964, and the MTS (Michigan Terminal System), built in the late 1960s. OptimizationsSince shared libraries on most systems do not change often, systems can compute a likely load address for each shared library on the system before it is needed and store that information in the libraries and executables. If every shared library that is loaded has undergone this process, then each will load at its predetermined address, which speeds up the process of dynamic linking. This optimization is known as prebinding in macOS and prelinking in Linux. Disadvantages of this technique include the time required to precompute these addresses every time the shared libraries change, the inability to use address space layout randomization, and the requirement of sufficient virtual address space for use (a problem that will be alleviated by the adoption of 64-bit architectures, at least for the time being). Locating libraries at runtimeLoaders for shared libraries vary widely in functionality. Some depend on the executable storing explicit paths to the libraries. Any change to the library naming or layout of the file system will cause these systems to fail. More commonly, only the name of the library (and not the path) is stored in the executable, with the operating system supplying a method to find the library on disk, based on some algorithm. If a shared library that an executable depends on is deleted, moved, or renamed, or if an incompatible version of the library is copied to a place that is earlier in the search, the executable would fail to load. This is called dependency hell, existing on many platforms. The (infamous) Windows variant is commonly known as DLL hell. This problem cannot occur if each version of each library is uniquely identified and each program references libraries only by their full unique identifiers. The "DLL hell" problems with earlier Windows versions arose from using only the names of libraries, which were not guaranteed to be unique, to resolve dynamic links in programs. (To avoid "DLL hell", later versions of Windows rely largely on options for programs to install private DLLs-essentially a partial retreat from the use of shared libraries-along with mechanisms to prevent replacement of shared system DLLs with earlier versions of them.) Microsoft WindowsMicrosoft Windows checks the registry to determine the proper place to load DLLs that implement COM objects, but for other DLLs it will check the directories in a defined order. First, Windows checks the directory where it loaded the program (private DLL); any directories set by calling the SetDllDirectory() function; the System32, System, and Windows directories; then the current working directory; and finally the directories specified by the PATH environment variable. Applications written for the .NET Framework framework (since 2002), also check the Global Assembly Cache as the primary store of shared dll files to remove the issue of DLL hell. OpenStepOpenStep used a more flexible system, collecting a list of libraries from a number of known locations (similar to the PATH concept) when the system first starts. Moving libraries around causes no problems at all, although users incur a time cost when first starting the system. Unix-like systemsMost Unix-like systems have a "search path" specifying file-system directories in which to look for dynamic libraries. Some systems specify the default path in a configuration file, others hard-code it into the dynamic loader. Some executable file formats can specify additional directories in which to search for libraries for a particular program. This can usually be overridden with an environment variable, although it is disabled for setuid and setgid programs, so that a user can not force such a program to run arbitrary code with root permissions. Developers of libraries are encouraged to place their dynamic libraries in places in the default search path. On the downside, this can make installation of new libraries problematic, and these "known" locations quickly become home to an increasing number of library files, making management more complex. Dynamic loadingDynamic loading, a subset of dynamic linking, involves a dynamically linked library loading and unloading at runtime on request. Such a request may be made implicitly or explicitly. Implicit requests are made when a compiler or static linker adds library references that include file paths or simply file names. Explicit requests are made when applications make direct calls to an operating system's API. Most operating systems that support dynamically linked libraries also support dynamically loading such libraries via a run-time linker API. For instance, Microsoft Windows uses the API functions LoadLibrary, LoadLibraryEx, FreeLibrary and GetProcAddress with Microsoft Dynamic Link Libraries; POSIX-based systems, including most UNIX and UNIX-like systems, use dlopen, dlclose and dlsym. Some development systems automate this process.
Addicted to Diet Coke: My Battle to Beat a 27-year, Seven-a-day Habit
I really want to stop drinking Diet Coke - and not only because I spend at least €500 a year on the stuff. It is embarrassing and bad for me. When I go on holiday I fill up the supermarket trolley with Diet Coke, to the amusement of my friends. I get anxious if I do not have any Diet Coke in the fridge as bedtime approaches; I run to the shop in the middle of the night to ensure a cold can is waiting for me in the morning.with the holidays coming soon?We always got stockings for our animals. This year I plan on getting both the puggies new harness vests, plush sushi toys, some treats and maybe a little something extra if my husband does not throw a fit ;) I am also planning on taking them to have their picture taken with Santa. The SPCA here does it every Monday night at one of our local malls. I think it will be fun. And it raises money for them. And NO - it is not too early to be thinking about the holidays. I've already bought quite a few Christmas presents. I like to actually relax and enjoy the holiday itself, instead of running around like a crazy woman trying to buy presents during the rush.Is there any music that is not holiday-themed that you associate with certain holidays?Halloween is a Misfits holiday! Always will be. I also seem to associate New Years and Independence Day with the Twilight Zone theme song. Mainly because of the 2-3 day marathons the Sci-fi channel plays every year.Is January 1st a holiday?yes, it is new years day. you should get paid moreI'm debating on adopting a dog during the holidays or after the holidays.?After christmas because then there would normally be a larger choice and you are more likely to get the dog you seek. Good luck therefore and choose carefully,,, Thank you also for taking the consideration to buy a dog from a rescue rather than a byb . Your money will be used in a far better way to help other homeless pups.Aruba holiday!?You need to be certified to dive. If your 11 year old is certified or planning on getting certified, I would check with Aruba scuba companies regarding age restrictions in scuba diving. I believe you have to be 10 or older and you have to complete a medical waiver. No health conditions. Enjoy your trip, after 6 years you deserve a break)is tomorrow a jewish holiday? No there is no jewish holiday, only a inservice dayWhen are the Christmas holidays?Christmas,as holidays depends upon few factors such as :the place you livethe denomination you gowhich calendar you follow etc.generally 25th of December is celebrated as Christmas holidayWhen are the Wiccan Holidays? The date changes deary wiccan/pagan holidays are on the solstices and equinoxes and not set on static days. Since solstices and equinoxes can happen on different days in different years that's why your dates are changing. To answer your question look up which holiday falls on which solstice/equinox. Let's take Imbolc for example usually on february 1st is between Yule (winter solstice) and Ostara (spring equinox). To find the exact date: The precise astrological midpoint in the Northern hemisphere is when the sun reaches fifteen degrees of Aquarius. In the Southern hemisphere, if celebrated as the beginning of local Spring, the date is the midpoint of Leo. whatever day that occurs on would be Imbolc, and that's when you would celebrate the beginning of spring and then Ostara next in the middle of spring and so on for the rest of the holidays. Are there National Drinking Holidays? Now there is the Newfoundland thing. You know Tibb's Eve (sometime called St Tibb's Eve) which occurs in Newfoundland and Labrador every December 23, on the eve of Christmas Eve.Here is an other interesting article on Tibb's Eve: The origins of Tibb's EveMerry Christmas everyone!alone for the holidays ?This time of the year can be very lonely for many who do not have families, and/or they live far away, deployed, etc. Volunteering at a homeless shelter, nursing home, etc. will bring a smile to someone's face, and will give you such a great feeling of having brought joy to another person. However, if this is not possible, then how about doing things that make you happy? Pamper yourself - take a hot bath by candlelight with a nice glass of wine & your favorite music to relax you. Treat yourself to something special, even if it's just something small, or treat yourself to a great movie to watch at home later that evening - something to make you laugh! Look on the positive side of things. Take time to remember what you have, and plan for next year to be the best year ever! Being alone on the holidays cannot make you feel sad unless you allow it to! Find a way to make it a special day for YOU!
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for LED Driver
Can't find generic USB audio driver for a Samson COU1 USB microphoneAre you connected to the internet and allowing Device Manager to search Windows Update? That worked for me.As an aside, I contacted Samson support about this mic: they had a specialized driver, but it was poorly written and introduced cracks, pops, ticking noises, clipping, etc. into the recorded audio. Samson support suggested that I uninstall their driver and let windows update pick it back up -- and this worked marvelously.Don't forget that with this mic you may need to go into recording properties and set it as your default or selected recording source, or no dice, Chicago------(Backlight) LED Driver maximum number of LEDsIsn't it irrelevant how many LEDs you connect as long as the voltage is correct and the driver can supply or sink enough current?Only the string max voltage and current are relevant not the max number of LEDs.I don't know why they specify the output in terms of the number of LEDs. Why do some ICs have multiple sink channels for separate strings when you can connect them together to increase the total current? Flexibility to increase target market. I have 2 backlight strings of 120mA eachAnd about 24-30V per channel. Check out the TI LP8862, Allegro A8502------LED Visible Light encodingI found two issues that were affecting the response of the circuit:- The CSHUNT (capacitor in parallel with the LED) that should act as ripple filter didn't allow to follow correctly the PWM. So I removed and now works as I was expecting:- While encoding with digitalWrite() and delayMicroseconds() I was printing the iteration Serial.println(): this was making extra delays that were also affecting the output PWM.- I tested now in the range of my requirements and it works fine: Bit_time 166 usec, including a 95% duty cycle. That means 8 usec RTZ and the circuit responds fine------uC platforms to consider for faster CPU and 30 GPIO pinsI would probably look into the mbed platform. You might be able to use one of their DIP modules as your "uC DIP", though it will contain the necessary surrounding peripherals as well (crystal, power, etc). While this will be significantly more expensive than buying bare microcontroller chips, it sounds like you're not producing this in mass so that shouldn't be too much of an issue..There is a large developer community and the hardware can definitely meet your I/O and speed requirements. Due to the readily accessible development tools these rather complex microcontrollers will still have almost no start-up time------Calculate resistors for LEDI'd like to connect 10 LED to the Arduino's Digital PinsYou can't.The Arduino has an absolute maximum of 40mA from a digital IO pin, and a recommended maximum of 25mA from a digital IO pin.You can't get 350-600mA out of that. For those LEDs you need either a decent transistor to switch them, along with a suitable high power resistor with good temperature coefficient, or a proper LED driver, such as the CAT4101 or similar. You also need a power source capable of providing many amps to drive them all. At full brightness, 10 LEDs at 600mA would need 6A------Driving three high power RGB LEDs with PWM, from a 9v batteryIf you power off 9V then consider using some of the 3W LEDs in series: -Typically red leds need about 2.5V across them so wiring three in series will need at least 7.5V then there should be some current limiting circuit that might take 0.5V.Typically for blue or green leds they need 3.4V across them so maybe only series together two LEDs.You might just about get enough brightness with the NCP5623 chip this way but if not you'll need a current limit circuit and mosfets. The NTD80N02 looks OK but you need to limit current into the LEDs------No display after updating intel HD graphics driverSolved it myself, in the end.Long story short, fixed it by installing the ATI drivers, not the Intel ones.Steps:Used DDU to wipe all existing display drivers in safe mode. (Thanks to headkase for the recommendation.)Installed the ATI driver instead. Apparently the ATI driver package for switchable graphics cards has both the ATI and Intel HD Graphics drivers.Ran into some errors like "inf file not found" during driver installation, bypassed that by manually extracting and pointing Device Manager to the inf file via "update driver".Two blue screens and a DDU-aided reinstall later, it somehow worked.Ugh.------LED filament bulb driverYou can use a capacitor power supply where most of the voltage is dropped in a cap on the AC input side of the bridge rectifier. The losses can be very low .The cap should be a X rated type at least 250VAc .The DC side of the bridge rectifier should have a filter cap across it to prevent annoying flicker .Place a surge limiting resistor of say 1 Kohm 5W in the AC side to protect things at turn on .The Cap supply is nothing new and it is described elsewhere. In fact some mains LED string drivers use them .------MOSFET only turns partially off when overheated why?We build high-temperature circuits, and find we have to test for this phenomena in an oven, although we generally work at higher voltages. IDSS increases with temperature on all MOSFETS and will eventually reach a point where the leakage is enough to keep it hot or it runs away; that is, the heat generated by the leakage current (in your case .7 * 12 or 8 Watts) heats up the junction enough to sustain the large leakage or allow it to continue to increase. Not an academic response, but maybe there is a solid-state physicist out there who can explain why this occurs------Add constant current to an XL6019 moduleYou cannot drive 6 LEDs with 12V.With 12V in and 6 LEDs you do not need boost buck, just boost. You should use a $7 Mean Well LDB-300L boost driver rather than the CV 12V source. Its size is about 30 mm x 20mm You would need to use LEDs that have a max current of 300 mA or higher. They also have 350, 500, 600 mA models. With a 12V input it can drive a string of LEDs with a Vf of up to 36V. The LDB-300L has a PWM dimming pin that accepts frequencies between 100 and 1,000 hz. Mean Well LED Driver Catalog------High speed (>30KHz) 10-bit PWM generatorSince the Arduino Due was mentioned above (and I can't comment yet), I'll mention on that here.On the Arduino Due, you can use the compare module for PWM, eg. By changing the "TOP" (what the timer counts up to - this sets the frequency) using the RC register in the AT91SAM chip, you can adjust the frequency (and resolution). To get 30 kHz, you end up having more than 10-bit resolution (with a 1:1 prescaler).I see there is also a separate PWM block in the chip. I haven't played around with that, but the datasheet should reveal more.------Display large decimal number using seven segments display closedThe way you've designed it, you're giving 4 bits to one display and 4 bits to the other display. That's great if you're trying to display your value in hexidecimal. (...which assumes the 7447 LED driver chip supported symbols AbCdEF.) Otherwise you're going to need another IC which inputs 8-bit digital value and either gives you 3-digit BCD (2,4,4 wires) or can directly drive the LED segments (3x7 wires). If your number will never exceed 63, you do not need to physically wire the 3rd digit. Alternately you might find another display module which inputs 8 bits and displays a 2-3-digit unsigned decimal value.------Connect audio device with bluetooth dongleIt is likely you are having compatibility issues between the three devices; computer, dongle and headset. Here is what the user manual states about compatibility.Your headset is compatible with Bluetooth enabled mobile phones. It features Bluetooth version 3.0. It also works with devices featuring other Bluetooth versions that support the Headset profile (HSP), Hands-Free profile (HFP), Advanced Audio Distribution profile (A2DP) and Audio/Video Remote Control profile (AVRCP).I might note the manual focuses on mobile phones. There is a lot of discussion about this issue on Philips' forum; SHB7000 Windows 7 Bluetooth Driver Problem & SHB7000 not working on windows 7.------UART LED Driver using MOSFETThe drive voltage refers to the $V_mathrmGS$ at which those $R_mathrmDS$ values are reported. The maximum $R_mathrmDS$ was measured with $V_mathrmGS$ 2.75 V, and the minimum $R_mathrmDS$ was measured with $V_mathrmGS$ 5 V. Your understanding of the other parameters is correct.Your circuit will probably work, but you may encounter problems at higher baud rates. The MOSFET has a gate capacitance $C_mathrmGS$ which will distort the edges of your serial signal. This value is referred to as $C_mathrmiss$ in the datasheet, with a maximum value of 50 pF------How to connect LED strip to be powered by charger and batteries closedLooks mostly fine. I'm not overly familiar with this specific charging module so correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like there is an input to charge the batteries, but no output pins, so you would have to directly draw current from the Li-ions. It should be fine for just a 2A draw, but any higher and I would make sure I have output current protection. When your batteries drop below 4V, you wont be able to directly supply 12V any more. I would suggest a 12V regulator or some kind of LED driver to maintain constant and adequate power------Who's responsible for USB 3 driversWhen a USB port is located on a motherboard, or connected to directly through a cable (USB on chassis for example), then the chipset on the motherboard is responsible for the USB ports, and as such, you need to install the chipset drivers. Most likely there are installers available on the motherboard homepage, but if there isn't, then the motherboard says: we use plug and play drivers that ship with Windows. Although the manufacturer is ultimately responsible for the drivers, it can be Windows too where things stop working. But it is up to the manufacturer to contact Microsoft in these cases------Why the television manufacturers (Samsung, Sony, LG, so on) exceed the voltage capacity on led strips (backlight) on TV's?Isn't 133V the open-circuit voltage? When LEDs are working, voltage should be lower.LEDs are driven by constant current sources, it's far better than using voltage regulation, because LEDs have widely varying forward voltages and they tend to have negative temperature coefficient :Overheating reduces voltage which raises current with a constant voltage regulator which leads to even more overheating until one LED in the chain die. Here is for example the datasheet of a LED driver used in a LG TV I've repaired : mode DCDC converter"------Unsolvable NVIDIA & Ubuntu 16.x compatibilityI had the same problem today when I was installing Ubuntu on my new MSI GL62 laptop which has the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 960M graphics aswell. The issue, it turned out was not with the drivers as such but grub setting. I had 'nomodeset' and 'acpioff' in grub to install ubuntu with the live CD. That setting got carried on to actual installation on my laptop. I think it's the 'nomodeset' that interferes with the NVIDIA graphics drivers and not the 'acpi'. So I manually removed the options from /etc/default/grub and runand that fixed the issue.------Eliminating buzz or high pitch noise from PWM LED Driver? closedYou are dealing with a common problem with microcontroller-generated PWM signals: An 8-bit PWM driven at the usual clock rate can skirt the edge of audio range. Let's say the chip has an 8MHz clock. An 8-bit PWM maximum frequency is 31.25 kHz. You won't hear that, but your dog might. Add in charlieplexing: now your 30 kHz PWM is being time-shared among several LEDs, effectively lowering (into the audio range) the signal to individual LEDs.There is no easy way around this without completely changing how you approach this problem. Charlieplexing PWM dimming will scream when implemented on a small microcontroller
What Foundations Are Good?and Work Well Too?
I dislike Maybelline. It does not stay-put throughout the day, and the Foundations always feel greasy. I have always liked Liquid Foundations over Mousse and Powder. It's easier to apply and looks much more natural. Always apply with a Makeup Sponge or Foundation Brush. As for your Sensitive Skin, try Mineral Foundations.1. What's your favourite foundation brush?Mac 187 is my favorite foundation brush2. make-up can a foundation brush make your skin only plz help?just wash ur brush first. first wash ur skin with a good face-wash. apply some base.any oil free cream that suits u. then apply ur foundation. and then powder.go for it!3. How often should a foundation brush be wash?weekly is too much. it can cause the glue to weaken then the hair things will fall out! bobbi brown, kevin acoiun, carmendy, most all say that you only need to do it once everey two months. cetaphil is really gentle and thats the kindof soap you should look for![::4. How do you use a foundation brush? On the rare occasion that I use liquid foundation this is how I do it. I put a good dab of foundation on the back of my left hand and use it as a palette for my brush. I dip my foundation brush into the base and apply it to my face with a sort of stippling action. If you need more base you can add more to the back of your hand, which keeps you from double dipping in the bottle5. Does using a foundation brush use less product than using your hands? It's the same, depends on how much foundation the person wants6. Please answer! How do I apply liquid foundation with an essence of beauty foundation brush without streaks?to get rid of streaks when you use a foundation brush make sure you brush in every direction. do not just go left and right on your forehead for example. go left, right, up, down, diagonally, etc. using a lot of foundation wo not result in more streaking but you might end up with a definite line or colour difference between your jaw and neck. and that is just not attractive at all. always remember a little goes a long way.7. How long can you use a foundation brush? You can use it for a while as long as you are keeping it clean. You do not want any buildup or bacteria to form on it. Some places like Sallies Beauty Supply make a spray pump bottle of solution specifically made for cleaning blush brushes. I recommend it.8. can any foundation brush be used with either powder or liquid foundation?you want a soft loose brush for powder, or a puff and liquid you want to use a special foundation brush (M.A.C) or a makeup sponge. I use covergirl clean liquid foundation (riteaid) & a MAC makeup sponge!9. I really need a good liquid foundation brush!!?Use a basis brush designed for liquid basis.MAC Cosmetics makes an mighty one! It gives you a flawless look and the comb lasts ceaselessly. Do not EVER use your hands, your hands incorporate oil and bacteria and if your rubbing your face your going to clog your pores that allows you to make you breakout. Utilizing you fingers will provide you with a blotchy streaky seem. Dont use a sponge. It will fritter away your liquid groundwork rather fast considering the fact that the sponge obsorbs it. It does not supply a flawless appear anyways.10. Does anyone know the best way to clean a foundation brush after using Revlon Colorstay Foundation? To clean my brushes i fill the sink up with really warm water but not so hot i can not have my hands in the sink, then i put my brushes in the sink and put shampoo on my brushes and wash them and rinse them :) do it a couple of times until they are clean :) i wash mine every week :)11. Would setting my foundation with a brush make my skin look more 'airbrushed'?I would reccommend the MAC 187 foundation brush. I have started to use this and I have to say my make up look so natural with it. If you you tube how to use it this should give you a good idea how to use it. Hope this helps
What Type of Resources Could Be Harvested Remotely on Mars? What Type of Processing Would Be Require
I am a big fan of basalt fiber. Mars has lots of basalt. Basalt fiber is not Kevlar or Zylon, but it's still very strong. It used to be Soviet ICBM nose cone material -- Cold War secret weapons technology. Now they even use it in golf clubs.Making basalt fiber is rock-simple: melt some in a furnace, extrude the fiber from the melt through a gravity-fed bushing, let it cool. Solar concentrators on Mars could probably give you the needed furnace temperatures, despite the weaker sunlight there. The concentrators themselves would not necessarily entail a lot of delivered mass to the Martian surface. Most of the mass of a parabolic solar dish on Earth goes toward structural support against gravity and wind loads; but Martian gravity is low, the wind loads varying between slight (at lower altitudes) to non-existent (on high volcano peaks. )Martian greenhouses, if on the surface, will radiate unacceptable amounts of heat during the night. It's been proposed that they be covered at night with insulating blankets. Basalt rock wool would probably work, with light sheathing on either side -- to reduce scratching of the greenhouse windows on the inner side (you would not use basalt fiber to make underwear, that's for sure), and for better heat retention and better dust mitigation on the outer side. Mars habitats would be pressure vessels. Mars air pressure is 0. 6 of Earth's at low altitudes, and almost a hard vacuum at the higher mountain peaks. Textiles woven tightly from basalt fiber might be significantly resistant to atmosphere losses, to the point where just adding a relatively small fraction of resin would make them air-tight. The resin might come from plants grown in greenhouses. The combination would give you ISRU scalability for habitat. The strength of extruded or cast basalt generally could also make it a candidate for various kinds of Tensegrity structures. Basalt rods could be another byproduct of the melt, filling out the need for structural elements that must withstand compression. Perhaps even a tiny contribution of CNT fiber to the rods as they were being cast could solve all major issues of flexion (not that basalt is terribly brittle to begin with), though I must admit not sure how well CNT would stand up to the melt temperature.Robert Zubrin has said that Mars geothermal resources are the ISRU-scalable power source for Mars colonization. I've worked out a possible way to use basalt (possibly otherwise a waste product in drilling) to help drill for steam -- extend the drill by "3D printing" it (as it were) the top of the drill, adding to it as the drill head descends to what might be anyone's guess of depth. Not sure if it's a brainfart yet or not. Basalt fiber might also help ship stuff off Mars. In some recent discussions on a few Facebook groups, one of us worked out that an untapered basalt fiber rotating sling could get stuff from the moon's surface to lunar orbit. Such a sling, if tapered, and operating in the almost total vacuum of a high Martian peak, might get stuff off Mars -- to Phobos, maybe even out on an Earth-return trajectory. The longer the sling, the lower the g forces at its end, so an ISRU-scalable approach to extension of the sling might even solve the Mars-to-orbit human transportation part, at least for the more g-tolerant individuals.Sorry to sound like I am All About Basalt. To round it out a little:Another thing to look at is atmospheric nitrogen (2%) for agriculture. CO2 is not enough (and even poisonous to plants at high concentrations. ) To concentrate the atmosphere for agriculture, you will probably be trying to get more N2 than CO2. Nitrogen has been discovered in Martian soil, but it's trace (only 1 ppm seen so far.)Some construction might require repeated use of explosives. The perchlorate in Martian soil (poisonous -- you've got to get perchlorate out to grow anything anyway) could be reformulated as low-grade explosives for the purpose. Temperature differential. This is not as obvious because it's not a substance. But Martian temperatures get quite low, while solar concentrators can melt . .. oh, I almost said basalt, again. Sorry. Heat engine efficiency depends on temperature differential. John Mankins has proposed a space solar power approach using heat engines in Earth orbit, based on boiling helium. He can only talk about liquid helium for that application because of the potential of radiating waste heat against the 4 K background of the universe. Martian temperatures get low, but not that low. And yet ... consider: you might put a very thin, very wide IR-reflective sheet over a large area high on a Martian mountain (for dust mitigation; the dust can not blow into what is basically a vacuum), and make a small part of Mars colder than it's ever been. This cooling can be used to increased the temperature differential in the working fluid of a heat engine, reducing the size of the required solar array. Zubrin proposes sending nuclear reactors, but that's not ISRU-scalable and he does not pretend it will be, any time soon after landing one. Geothermal might be ISRU-scalable, but only after an unacceptable number of dry wells. What is ISRU-scalable? Mars does not lack for near-vacuum surface area (which is also above the dust storms. ) Such areas could be the most basic power source as development (before or after humans land) and a thin sheet of IR-reflective material over a wide area might be the most mass-efficient way (in terms of payload delivered to the surface) of optimizing a solar power plant.Gold. OK, that's sounds crazy. But drilling for geothermal, even if it does not produce acceptable steam (or any steam) might nevertheless hit fairly rich ores. Do not throw out those tailings. Why would you need gold? Well, it's popular in high-performance reflector applications. And quite popular, for this reason, in thermal management of spacecraft. A little goes a long, long way: it can be thinned to be mere atoms thick, translucent. Much of what is proposed here will require reflectors. You will certainly need good reflectors for those furnaces that melt the ... oh, I almost said basalt again. Sorry. What type of resources could be harvested remotely on Mars? What type of processing would be required to use them as building materials for a Mars base?1. where can I buy cheap building materials in memphis,tn or north mississippi?84 lumber or home depot2. How To Make An Easy Amazing Outdoor Fort Without Wood or Other Real Building Materials? You need to build an imaginary shed. You listed pretty much everything but plastic as being unacceptable, so your choices are very limited. Wood is the simplest material to build it from. Also the cheapest. Ridge foam insulation would cost a fortune, would not stand up and screws wo not hold sh!t in that stuff.3. Are there any online sites for buying building materials and exporting them to the buyer's country without travelling to India? There are so many websites that sell construction material online work as a marketplace model.
